Step-By-Step Instructions:
Explanation/Independent Practice/Application: After performing our book for the class, each student can be in groups of 5 and can take turns with the puppets acting out each character. While the others are waiting for their turn, I will ask them what was their favorite part of the book.
Evaluation: I will evaluate each student’s comprehension of the lesson by asking them specific questions that obtained to the book. For example, “Where did the Old Woman live? Who lived with the Old Woman? What was your favorite part of the book? Why?” Their answers should clarify whether they comprehend the book and remembered what took place. After evaluating the students, I could have them collectively come up with our own book similar to the one we learned in class and act it out on another day.
- Students will be encouraged to participate in front of their peers.
- Students will be able to grasp an understanding of a story by acting it out.
- Students will be engaged in the reading.

- Book titled “There Was An Old Woman Who Lived In A Shoe” by Mother Goose (teacher)
- Finger Puppets (students)
Step-By-Step Instructions:
- "1,2,3 all eyes on me. 1,2 my eyes on you (expected response)! Today I will be reading you guys a book about an Old Woman. She has a lot of children and they all are doing different things.
- Today’s book is called “There Was An Old Woman Who Lived In A Shoe”. Please pay close attention because I will need several students to help act out our book when it is finished. (Reads book)
- (Finishes book) Do you guys remember what some of the children were doing in the poem? (Answers may vary) How about the Old Woman, what did she do for the children? (Answers may vary).
- All right lets begin. Who would like to help act out our poem? ME!!! (Expected response)
